Jamie Moyer

Item Received: 1986 ProCards Pittsfield Cubs, signed in black Sharpie.

Notes:
Jamie Moyer is back in the big leagues at the age of 49.  A non-roster invitee to spring training by the Colorado Rockies this year, after missing all of last season following Tommy John surgery, Moyer won the fifth and final spot in the Rockies rotation.  If he picks up a win, he will become the oldest pitcher in major league history to do so.  If he's remotely effective this year, he'll probably get a shot with somebody next season to pitch at the age of 50.  Unbelievable.  I've had this Pittsfield Cubs card of him since shortly after it was issued 26 years ago, which was the same season I watched him pitch as a Chicago Cubs rookie on WGN telecasts.  Baseball won't be the same when and if Jamie Moyer ever retires!

Item Received: 1993 Fleer Final Edition, 1998 Collector's Choice, 1999 Topps.  All signed in black Sharpie.

Notes:
Jerry DiPoto's name has been on the short list of baseball GM prospects for a few years, and he finally got his job this off-season.  I'm pretty excited to see what he does with the Angels - a model franchise with a hungry, outgoing owner and tons of resources.  Unfortunately, for the sake of Angels fans, he probably won't be able to travel back in time to void the Mike Napoli for Vernon Wells trade.

Item Received: 1986 ProCards West Palm Beach Expos, 1989 Donruss Rookies, 1989 Topps Major League Debut, 1991 Score, Self-furnished Colorado Rockies scripture card.  All signed in black Sharpie.

Notes:
Former Twins LOOGY Gary Wayne signed all four cards that I sent and added one of his own.  It's hardly uncommon for athletes to add bible verses to their signatures, but I found it interesting that Mr. Wayne uses multiple verses -- there are three different ones spread out over the five signatures here.

Item Sent: 1987 Donruss, 1987 Fleer, 1987 Topps
Item Received: 1987 Donruss, 1987 Fleer ,1987 Topps.  All signed in blue Sharpie.

Notes:
George Frazier was one of the only members of the 1987 Twins team who I failed to get an autograph from as a kid.  That was his final year in the majors, and since I got most of them in person back then, I simply never had a chance.  The Donruss card is the key addition here since I started working on that team set 20 years ago.  This is the first addition to it since around that time.

Item Received: 2009 Topps Heritage, signed in black Sharpie.

Notes:
The one-time Rockies ace is enjoying a nice comeback this season.  I really do love the Topps Heritage series, and the '09 set (using the 1960 design) looks amazing signed.  I'm definitely going to be attempting more of them.

Item Received: 1988 Fleer, 1988 Topps.  Both signed in blue Sharpie.

Notes:
I previously owned a signed 1987 Donruss card from Baylor, representing the year that he played for the Twins first World Series winning team, but I didn't have any signed cards of him wearing a Twins uniform.  Until now.  Thanks, Mr. Baylor!
