Warroad, Minnesota native and University of North Dakota great Al Hangsleben had his finest professional years with the New England Whalers of the WHA. He was a punishing hitter who excelled at clearing the front of the net, but also had a bit of scoring talent. In fact, while with Washington, he even spent time filling in as a forward.
