John Muckler's first NHL head coaching job was a 35 game stint with the Minnesota North Stars in 1968-69. He went 6-23-6. Twenty-one years later, he guided the Edmonton Oilers to their fifth (and final) Stanley Cup. He started with the Oilers as an assistant in 1982 and was a part of the Cup-winning staff in 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988.
