Bemidji, Minnesota native and former Golden Gophers star Bryan Hickerson was drafted by his hometown Twins in the seventh round of the 1986 draft. After one season at class A Visalia, he was dealt to the San Francisco Giants in the deal that brought Dan Gladden to Minnesota. Four years later, he made it to the majors with the Giants. He spent parts of four years there before splitting his fifth and final big league season between the Cubs and Rockies.
