Fleming made the scene as a 17 game winning rookie in 1992. He put up a 3.39 ERA in over 228 innings and finished third in the AL Rookie of the Year voting (though he probably deserved better). His ERA spiked by almost a full run in his second year, but he still went 12-5, furter establishing himself as one of the top young lefties in the league. Then the arm problems came. He pitched two more seasons, posting some awful numbers. Then, like that, he was gone. It really makes one appreciate the career of someone like Jamie Moyer when looking at Fleming. They were similar pitchers, but health allowed one to pitch until he was almost 50. The other was done at 25.
